i dont actually cut the tubes
i add a spacer inside the shock cartridge and shorten the spring spacer (the amount i make the shock spacer)
wasnt a hack job!

I'm going to be sending my forks with Cory's

 is the ride alot stiffer when you shorten them 2"?  does the fork bottom itself out?

yes fork bottoms itself out
and ride stiffness depends on whether i add spring spacer length or not
it feels like stock if i remove the same as i add to the cartridge
