guyz as some of u know im a bus mechanic by trade.  well the day I had a vendor show me his new hose bender setup.  basicly he can bend or form any size heater hose to whatever u want.   what do yall think about replacing my up pipe with 2.5 heater hose.  its about a quarter inch thick.  just an idea seen someones kit running a rubber hose from the turbo to the plentum.  it would allow me a bigger size tubing with less clamps.  he can even expand the hose on its end.  yall think it will hold up to 30plus pounds.

I like 2.25" pipe....more than plenty.

Mc express use to run mostly hose instead of pipe if I remember right with no probs....but I like my pipes instead.

I have seen the McX kitted bikes blows holes in those hoses with WAY less than 30#'s, They were not brand new hoses but they looked fine....not sure I would trust one with the kinda boost your talking on a regular basis.

What type of busses you workin on? I work on school buses for the local county government/school district. Most of our turbos on the international engines only reach about 14 lbs boost max. They do have large what looks like radiater hoses but they also rupture once in a while.

I work on school buses too.  But i worked several years on big trucks.  They make over 50 on rubber hoses.  But i see your point.  Ill go metal it may cost more but i wont have to worry about it.

i dont think rubber hoses are all that dependable. im sure at some point the rubber may losen up from the heat and just when you need it, it may blow off. do you remember nem at the grove when your up pipe blow off. you left glen sitting at the tree and had the race but sad to say at the big end your rubber connector to your up pipe blow off. i would say keep it steal.

I thought about hose. Makes things a little bit easier. I do like to weld aluminium so I will stick to the 6061 bends and couplers on the end. V-band thats nice

they will stress and weaken after time. the oil your turbo will shoot into the hose will also effect it and the 300 degree charge temps. when they do blow they will take the fairing and whatever is near with it. saw the aftermath of one and it blew the right side of the fairing and the windscreen off the bike.
dave just get the 2.25" and save yourself from pooping your leathers at 190mph  Undecided

I've run a long 4 ply 90 degree silicone hose...held 38psi for 3 seasons with no issues at all. Hell, the ford diesels we work on run have huge silicone connectors that run 40+ psi everyday all day.
