I noticed most external wastegates on bikes are mounted on the turbine housing. Is there a reason for not mounting it on the header?

I'd like to fab the wastegate into the header because it seems to make better sense to bleed off exhaust before it enters the turbine housing. It  would also save a few hundred bucks for a better turbo.

it would be fine to build it like that
another option we do some times is mill/or drill a hole in the side of the exhaust housing and weld a tube in it for a WG
