Just curious what do different types of plenums do performance wise or is it just design.

From what I've learned on cars. The runners help. so equal length on them & short or long depends on the set up. as for the box part. air is getting push very fast into it so I would say if goes out fast, BUT more rounded the plenum the better it goes out.

Like the exhaust on a race car. U get blue spots where the heat builds( the air/heat is slowed when being pushed out) on the pipes where there is restriction. so keep bending & changing till that is gone & you have great flow. Stops the back pressure & breathes better.

But this is a car guys thought that should be the same on the bikes.

there are many different factors to take into consideration
the charge tube even would need to be taken into concideration

the less turns in a charge tube will allow for a cooler charge
stacks in a plenum would allow for low end torque but not help much up top (this is why they go in the middle on most setups)
there is also some plenums that have intercoolers designed into them
this would allow to also keep the charge temps down

I was talking to Drew about this, he said the F.A.S.T./RCC/Velocity Stage 1 is not the best flowing available but very popular due to the look, and works fine for stage 1. I guess If you up grade to stage 2 W/RCC he exchanges your Plenum rather than adding the bungs to the Stage1. Because I do plan to upgrade to GSXTurbo's stage2 kit, I  would like Pinky and GSXTurbo to expand on their feelings about this.
thanks Phil

he adds the bungs to the plenum Wink atleast the ones ive seen upgraded with friends who have had it done
the ultra is where they change things and go to a w/a intercooled plenum

IMHO i feel the plenums wont need major changes till the upper 400 HP range

laminova type core, supposed to work well. air passes over lots of very fine fins to cool.
Geri in the UK has a bigger version running very good numbers for his boost level (good turbo combination too)
