I need to know what is required for my bike to make a run
and i also need to know what i need to do to be ready
also the rules and also schedules (probably for next year if i finish)
i have the bike (capable of mid to upper 600 hp)
i am debating on running the naked class due to lack of fairings or run mine as is and just over come the drag of missing lower fairings

i am wanting to test the waters and i just need to know what and how and when
its time to follow some dreams and try things ive wanted to do

any insight and help would greatly be appreciated

Thank you in advanced

Where are you planning on making this run Pinky?  I assume the closer the better to Indy.  I took a look at the Texas Mile website www.texasmile.net  There's alot of good safety info and some requirements to run down their track.  I'm not a LSR guy but that might be a good place to start looking!

First time you learn lots, if you want to go fast next year go to a meet this year, shorten up your bike a little, and make some passes, you should be quick but not necessarily setting records, setup will vary lots depending on the venue, learn from the guys around you , landspeeders are a friendly lot  Grin
One trap to be wary of is lowering the front of the bike too much, under braking with lots of windpressure you can capture the front guard, Walt wrote a good description of his experiances on SH Org , i have done it and wondered why the bike gets fishtaily everytime the throttle is closed on the salt, but you have to shut down sometime... Shocked

how about cut forks with stock triple tree?
the nose doesn't quite hit the fender
also I might try my hand at running it naked? what's your thoughts on that?

Some quick times done "naked" recently, Noonan at 240mph in the dirt would have been spectacular, McVicar before that at 235+, of course they had a bit more room than an Airstrip event would.
I think they ran std or close to std height .

Couldn't find Noonans with a quick search but found one that shows the wheelspin at Bonneville clearly

Many don't last the distance, from what i hear Bonneville is much the same as lake Gairdiner here , early in the week there is a long wait for a run, at the end of the week there are a lot less competing , quite a few due to hurt engines.
Don't know how nuts i am yet  bduh only run a best of 223mph  which was the fastest anyone had been over here , a easy and a planned 8500 rpm run after handling probs, never had the chance to realy turn it up after that.
The next year  was wet ,  Noonan was one of the visiting riders, rode an amazing 235 in what i thought was very poor conditions , i couldn't get anywhere near that, chewed out a clutch , and had a faulty fuel pressure reg that i kept trying to compensate for with the engine manager , just one of those years...
Maybe find out if i'm nuts enough to go very fast when i come over for the Bubs event in Sept

Pinky    lots of records out there  , thats why there are several likeMcVicar, Noonan and Wildbro taking there fairings off , that class still had to be fully explored to see what the limits may be.
For example i think if you took a bog stock cx500 turbo out you would set a record.
get real keen and sleeve a 600 down, turbo it and you could set a very respectable record in that class. probably frighten a few production class busa's

now that sounds like fun
only problem is that i own the busa and not much of anything else
i could build a 600 but i never have the money
and when i do usually something goes wrong at home and im using what i have saved to get us out of that jam
i still think the naked class looks like fun
just push the limits lol (have the HP capabilities just not the experience
