A friend of mine just rebuilt his motor on his '05 Hayabusa.  He went with 1397 kit with dual intake cams and APE Adjustable Gears,  he has also upgraded his valve springs and put in titanium retainers but did not go with the poted and poslished head at this time.  We have a good tuner but not much in the way for actual builders with alot of experience with bigbore set-ups.  He also added a full Muzzy exhaust system and upgraded his tranny which was done by Fast By Gas.  Thee information he is looking for is with these upgrades is what he needs for cam timing, he does know how to degree them properly just need numbers of where to set them.  I have heard alot say 105 intake and 107 exhaust but want some first hand knowledge from the experienced builders.  This is his street bike and also used for bracket racing.

He was really disappointed with his Dyno tuning on Thursday, not sure where the builder set up his cams but seems strange because he said only made 169hp at 4000 ft elevation which seems real low to me.

Not sure, have to get ahold of my buddy and get those numbers.  Something sounds fishy cause he said when they were tuning power commander was saying 100% duty cycle.  I know his fuel system is still stockm but should not be maxed out like that.

Yeah that seems a little low.  I'm not a big bore guy but I'm sure you should be at least near 190 hp, right?

Big bore, new intake, and the full muzzy he should be pushing at or over 200 ponnies.
Those big bores are nasty. The only thing i dont like about em is the heat issue. You can fry a wall if your not too careful.

Yah he is realizing about the heat issues already, told him about engine ice and 2nd fan mod off a toggle switch, or even relocate the temp sensor so the fan comes on sooner.

I've seen where guys take the main fan and add a fan from a 1000 and put the second on a switch, its deffinatly do-able. Careful with the engine ice if he runs in COLD weather. Keep us updated.

sounds like cam timimg is off. mine did the same thing and the cams where off. It caused the bike to flat line at 8000 rpms and only made 160 ish hp. Took it home redid the cams myself and found they where at 110 1whatever. Put them back where I asked the guy to put them at MYSELF and now runs right. The best thing you can do for your race program is learn how to do all this stuff yourself.  thumbs  up
